I have been extremely naughty in terms of eyeshadow in the last week, I have purchased a NYX quad and these three beauties so to justify this, I’m going to do a little review of three of the I Heart Makeup chocolate bar palettes. There’s a number of different palettes to choose from and they are currently on three for two at Superdrug so get in there quickly. I picked up Pink Fizz, Death By Chocolate and Golden Bar. Pink Fizz and Death By Chocolate both retail for £7.99 and Golden Bar is £9. Three eyeshadow palettes for £17 was just too good a deal for me to pass up! Also, have you seen how cute they are?
I believe some of the palettes in this collection are supposed to be decent dupes for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes however, I didn’t pick those specific ones up as I would like to purchase the Too Faced ones and I didn’t really see the point in having multiple palettes that were almost identical. Having said that, I love the palettes I chose. I initially decided to buy these online as I swatched Golden Bar (centre) whilst shopping last weekend but they didn’t have it in stock, nightmare, and I knew I had to have it. I must say it’s my favourite of the lot, I think it’s so pretty and I think the pigment is slightly better than the other two despite them all being incredibly buttery for the price point. I’d definitely recommend splashing out the extra pound if you’re looking to buy only one of these palettes.
Top to bottom: Pink Fizz, Golden Bar and Death By Chocolate.
As you can tell by the swatches, some colours in the palettes are much more pigmented than others. I’m not 100% sure but this could be due to the fact that the lighter colours, such as the ones in the larger pans, could double as highlight. Don’t quote me on that! I think these three palettes could work quite nicely together as well as using one by itself. There’s colours in each palette that would blend beautifully together such as the coppers, golds and browns. Even the blues and purples could look lovely blended together and I’m excited to start mixing and matching these palettes together. I’m posting a coppery/red eye look on Sunday, Christmas Day EEK!, using Golden Bar so hopefully that will give you some inspiration and persuade you to rush out and buy it in the sales. Furthermore, they all come with a decent size mirror in the lid and the quality of the packaging can’t be knocked at all. I was kinda surprised by this as they are from the makers of Make Up Revolution and my Fortune Favours The Brave Palette fell to pieces pretty quickly which is a great shame because that’s also a lovely palette. I still have it, it’s just duct taped together. Classy. Finally, they also come with those sponge applicators but I personally won’t be using them because, let’s be honest, they’re pretty shitty!
